McMenamin Named First Team Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas—Katie Jo McMenamin added another accolade to her historic senior season on Wednesday, earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team for Cross Country and Track & Field.

McMenamin (Lafayette, Colo./ Peak to Peak Charter) graduated from Swarthmore in May with a degree in engineering one day after winning the NCAA Division III National Championship in the outdoor 1,500 meters and placing second in the 5,000. The Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year and the Centennial Conference's Most Outstanding Track Performer has additionally already been honored for her success in the classroom by being named to the Centennial Honor Roll, Centennial All-Academic, Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area and CoSIDA Academic All-District teams.

She becomes Swarthmore's 24th CoSIDA Academic All-American since 1987 and the 11th first team member. To be considered for this honor, student-athletes with sophomore eligibility or older must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or higher and be selected to the Academic All-District team first.
