VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse program recently participated in the 26th Annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Festival at Villanova University.
The
Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Festival is hosted and organized by Villanova University students and is the largest annual student-run Special Olympics event in the world. Members of the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team volunteered at the benching and powerlifting event.
"We all stood in line, giving high fives and cheering on the athletes to pump them up for their event," said senior
Samantha Reichard, who was among the student-athletes in attendance. "We all really enjoyed seeing the athletes smile and look excited as they ran up to the lifting platform. It was also really inspiring to see that they never stopped smiling, even if they didn't win their event."
Swarthmore athletic teams will be taking part in community service projects throughout the academic year. For more information, click
